Question about eating out

Recommended Posts

I am three weeks out and am supposed to do liquids only for another week. I am going to a restaurant tonight, and the Soup option is clam chowder. Do you think it would be ok to eat that (not the clams- I don't even like clams that much), but just the creamy part of the soup? Other options are mashed potatoes or a baked potato.

When I went out on liquid, I actually go them to give me a latte (Decaf if recommended by your DR). Since it took me a while to drink, I enjoyed this during my first meal out. Plus - its give you your protien.

You should be fine with the Soup, just try not to eat the solids. If you do, do not freak out. I was on soft foods at this time, so you should be fine.

At 3 weeks, I was allowed soft/pureed foods. You didn't mention what you are allowed to eat, but if you just drank the Soup, minus the clams, I think it would work. You can use my "Frankensleeve approved food taste test" to see if you are ready for a new food.< /p>

1. Eat 1/2 teaspoon of the food

2. Wait 5 minutes

3. Eat another 1/2 teaspoon of food.

4. Wait 5 minutes.

If Frankensleeve did not have a negative reaction after that, it was safe for me to eat. :-P

I am 3 weeks out and on pureed food. I have eaten Soup with soft pieces in them. I just make sure to chew any of the soft pieces well. I do not eat clam chowder, but clams might be chewy. Maybe the restaurant would strain it for you? Never hurts to ask.

Today is my anniversary. I plan to go out and find something soft. Then chew, chew, chew. Good luck!
