When did you start feeling more energetic?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone I'm pre op and feeling so low in energy the last 3-4 months as I've hit my heaviest weight :/ How long after surgery and/or after how much weight loss did you feel a real tangible increase in energy?

Thanks in advance!

I was sleeved on July 6 and I have no energy still. I'm hoping when i can start more regular foods that will change. I've lost 23 lbs... This includes the weight I lost on my pre op diet.

@ are you on a pre-op diet? Sorry, I guess I missed something...

I am post op (5/6/15) and I am struggling with energy but I know why. My fuel (food) has been reduced due to lack hunger.

If you are at your heaviest then I am assuming you are not on a pre-op diet, or attempting a pre-op diet?????

Sleeved on 7/14/14.

At about a month and a half I started to get some energy back. The more I was able to eat in terms of variety and volume, the better I felt. Those Vitamins help too.

Sleeved on 4/30/15. Didn't feel back to normal for at least 4-6 weeks.

Right it took me a month after my sleeve to get my energy back, but that was partially because I was on blood pressure meds that I no longer needed.

I had a really easy surgical experience. I wasn't really low energy, but for the first month or so I needed to take a nap at least once a day. After that I was fine. Make sure you are hitting your protein/fluid goals and taking your Vitamins. If you are still concerned get your bloodwork checked to make sure everything is alright. For some it takes longer to readjust than others. I found the more I worked out, the stronger I got and the more energy I had.

I was sleeved 6/22 and started this process at my highest weight. The first 2 - 3 days after my surgery were "couch potato days", then on day 4 it was like a light switch was turned on. I have been like the Energizer Bunny since then...... but I do crash earlier in the evenings than I used to, it all runs out about dusk!

I had my sleeve on July 1, and am amazed at the energy I had immediately. I actually felt lighter right away. I was on the liquid pre op duet for 3 weeks because my surgery got delayed a week, so I'm not sure if that was part of it. I am quite active, I do listen to my body though and take a nap when I am feeling tired. I am up to a 25 minute walk twice a day, and feeling great.

6 weeks was a definite game changer for me. The first month I only walked and took lots of mini naps. I only took one week off from work and should have done 2. Everyone is different but now that I am 8 months out don't rush it. Let your body heal before you get to worried about exercising.

I was on Wednesday June 10th, and on Thursday the 11th asked for to be released and begged the doctor to let me go back to the gym for treadmill and light circuit training, he agreed but said to wait till Monday, so two weeks from that Monday I got my energy back, today I am about 90 lbs down, 9 waist sizes, and will hit my Magic 299lbs way before the day I gave myself, Christmas, I take my Vitamins every day, I need to do my Protein because of the gym and I am always hydrated since I had two dehydration incidents that were not pleasant, ironically the faster you become active and try to increase the level, the more energy you will have

It was 6 weeks for me this last Thursday and I feel I am starting to turn a corner. I have heard several say 3 months was a but of a magic number for them. I keep telling myself that I am halfway through that!

About 4 or 5 weeks out I started to feel remarkably better than before surgery, and the four weeks after surgery I felt markedly weak. Especially the first two. Just keep on keeping on. It's worth the trouble.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
