After a year of begging the insurance company to cover the surgery, I finally gave up and today I sent in my deposit for Tijauna. I will be flying there in two weeks! I am telling no one outside of my immediate family as I know they will try to talk me out of it.

I so hope it goes well. I have lost and gained probably close to 500 pounds during my lifetime. 15 years ago I lost over 100 pounds and have since gained it all back + 30. I don't want to do it again, but I have several weight-related health issues now, and it's no longer a just matter of how I look or feel. Someone, please tell me that I'm not making a huge mistake!!!! It's so much money to spend on myself, and I feel guilty for that on top of everything else.

:help:

I don't see how this can be a mistake when, in the end, it is saving your life! As women, we invest a lot of ourselves into being wives, mothers, careers and anything else that may need our attention. Having this surgery is for YOU, you deserve to be happy and healthy so then you can do all those things listed above. Good luck!:clap2:

I think you feel you are making a mistake because you are afraid you will not suceed in dieting once again, believe me I am right there with you. Same with telling the family, I am avoinding telling my SIL because I just know she will crtitize me, and nobody likes to be critized. And imagine all the criticism if we do this and fail? Life would be hell.

But I am sure you, like me, have done a lot of research on LapBand and know that this is no ordinary diet. So hold your head high and so something good for yourself. We all need to do it, and I know we all deserve all the TLC we can get.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
