dcannan 9 Posted July 17, 2015 So it's 9 days out and down from 256 day of surgery to 240. I feel great but darn it if I didn't think by now I wouldn't be craving carbs so bad. They can cook anything but let me smell bread and I'm like oh how I miss you. I'm still in the liquids stage. When did you stop craving carbs so bad??? jane13 2,256 Posted July 17, 2015 @@dcannan - I have to admit bread, popcorn & chips are the three hardest things for me to give up. Diet Coke, Sprite, chocolate, pizza, French fries - no problem. when do you get off liquids? I was off liquids after third day and was craving scrambles eggs & cheese. I think once I got to where I could chew something, that I could smell (like bread), it made a difference. Does that make sense? Hubby and I eat out a lot and I watch him eat the cheddar biscuits at Red Lobster and the bread at Longhorn. I just focus on Protein. I have started asking them to bring my food when he gets a salad because I want to start c-h-e-w-I-n-g my dinner; Protein, veggies which is usually chicken (or shrimp), then broccoli. I am good with that now ;D
Ariananica 4 Posted July 18, 2015 I had mine done the 14th, I didn't follow the Protein diet as told, I pretty much did not eat anything, I felt so lightheaded and weak, not a good feeling Day 4 after surgery I have been drinking my protein hoping to feel better, I keep watching commercials and dream about all the food being advertised ???????? dcannan 9 Posted July 18, 2015 You have to get in at least 60 gr Protein a day. I use Unjury. It taste great. Mixed with skim milk and you get your carbs for energy. This is per my dr and nutritionist orders. My weight loss is good 16 lbs in 11 days. Plus 32 oz of Water that is hard.
atontor 1,068 Posted July 19, 2015 You need to follow that Protein diet. It's so important to your long term health.
atontor 1,068 Posted July 19, 2015 Make sure you drink Water and Gatorade G2 along with Protein Shakes and Unjury Soups or regular chicken broths. Once you get to Puree foods it should get better. I know people that struggle with Puree foods but if you cook chicken to your liking along with veggies you'll enjoy the flavors in the Puree. I'm adding a before / after pic hopefully it will inspire
VSGAnn2014 12,992 Posted July 19, 2015 You guys who aren't eating your Protein post-op -- it's not just food ... it's medicine for your body. It is not optional. Seriously, getting up to 60+ grams of Protein as soon as you can is critical to your recovery from surgery (the body needs that protein to heal) and to your weight loss and, eventually, your long-term maintenance. Also, eating too little post-op, especially too little protein, won't help you lose more weight. It will just delay your recovery and make you crave and eat carbs to try to give yourself some energy. And if you go that route, you will risk the benefits you can reap from weight loss surgery. Best wishes to all the newbies. And please follow your surgeon's instructions.
