How is everyone doing who has gastric sleeve this month?

Recommended Posts

I had sleeve surgery on July 6. I think that makes me 10 days post op. I have had a mix of emotions in that time. I was surprised by my lack of energy. My son gave me his cootie germs and they have settled in my chest. I am not getting on the scales until my two week date. I was kind of expecting the weight to just fall off and my clothes to become at least somewhat loose. However, I guess between the bloating and gas, that doesn't necessarily happen.

I am two days post op. You're right the bloating and gas is awful. At times almost unbearable for me. Other than that I've not had any problems. I too thought my clothes would start getting looser. Not my case either.

I'm 4 days post op and finally feeling a little relief from the gas pains, but I'm struggling to get in the Water and Protein. Any suggestions?

I'm 15 days out, so glad that the first week is past, I feel much better, now If it weren't such a struggle to get in all my Water. I do great with my Protein strictly because of shakes, the water not so much.

I had my surgery on Monday the 20th. I'm 5 days post op. Was so ill afterwards I had major buyers remorse. Feeling better now, but quite alone on the journey as I've told only two friends, and of course my husband. Be nice to have some sleeve buddies.

I had surgery on July 20 the first few hours after surgery was almost unbearable due to gas pain in my right shoulder before they have me medication. So far I'm doing well no complications have not vomited. Pain has been bearable today.Today is the first time I did not need any pain medication.

Hi Chris - we were sleeved same day. I've not had bad gas pain, thank goodness. Did have uncontrollable vomiting for about four - five hours after the op, and felt like death. I'm a big sook when it comes to nausea, so All else in comparison is easier. Been paracetamol free for 3 days now. Only managing about half the fluids the NUT said I should be having, but doing ok. How are you finding getting all the liquids down?

Hey KiwiMum sorry about the vomiting you had but am glad you feeling ok too. I did not experience any vomiting at all after surgery. However i got very nausea 3 times while in the hospital. 1-first sip of Water, 2-the smell of hospital borth food and 3-the taste of crush of med in my mouth.

As for fluids yea I'm in the same boat as you, ,I'm only able to get about maybe 40 oz and 30 oz of Protein. I think Friday was the most since getting home. Tuesday I only got 16 oz which is the reason I got relases on Wednesday

Sleeved on Tuesday, the 21st. 4 days post op. No problems. No major pain. I was able to come off pain pills after 1st night home, but I typically have a high tolerance for pain.

It's so interesting to see all the restrictions others had, and they had difficulties. My surgeon required 2 shakes and a sensible meal(4 ozs of Protein and a veggie) two weeks prior up to the day before surgery. I'm very grateful that the pre-op gave me a better idea as to portion sizes for the future.

I've had a few weak feelings in my legs as my body adjusts, but I can say, walking that gas on out was a life saver those 1st 3 days. Excited for my post op appt and to start stage 2 diet--I'm sick of the liquids, lol.

I was sleeved a week ago today(7/30/15). No major problems aside from some right abdominal aching when I sit or try to stand from a seated position. Using the pain meds at night when I go to bed. Not sure about everyone else but I dislike having to crush my non liquid meds into Water and drink them. Nasty tasting! I'll be glad when I can just swallow them again. Seeing my doctor tomorrow for my one week follow-up.

I was 1 month out yesterday and for some reason today I'm having a hard time keeping my food down. shake for Breakfast (which I have every morning) I threw up, ate lowfat cottage cheese and diced peaches for lunch only two ounces total and was instantly sick again. I don't know what's going on with me today but it sucks.

I'm sorry to those of you who are having problems. Hope it passes sooner than later. Glad to hear all the good news.

Anyone else hit that dreaded early stall? I hit mine at 2 weeks(I'm 2 weeks 3 days out). It sucks, especially since I'm still on soft foods(not even at eggs yet). But, I've been reassured it will pass within a week or 2.

I am due to start puréed foods this weekend. Almost three weeks out - and I've not see much movement on the scales this week. But I've noticed a change in my shape, so not loosing heart. With eating so little, I think that how regular you are makes quite a difference to the scales, as does where you are in your cycle.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
