I need help with breakfast

Recommended Posts

Right now I am in my 6 month supervised dieting and I can already tell that my worst thing is going to be Breakfast. I am normally a breakfast carb eater like Cereal or rolls etc. Quick and simple. Since cereal is out of my diet and I am not a fan of cooking breakfast can you guys help me out with suggestions? I don't want to just have Protein Drinks every morning.

Because I am not hungry (at all) for breakfast I usually do end up doing the Protein drink. Like @CloserToFine I have also made some of the little egg muffins for those mornings that I do want something solid. My favorite are with green chilies, ham, and cheese... yum!

I have a suggestion. oatmeal and cream of wheat are carbs, but they are whole grains, and if you make them with skim milk, you'll get protein and a lot of Vitamins and minerals. I buy a quick cooking cream of wheat. You bring a cup of milk to a boil, then add the cream of wheat, then cook for 1 minute and it's done. I add cinnamon and Walden Farms sugar free Syrup. It's only about 200 calories, it's filling, and it tastes very sweet and carby even though it's full of nutrition! Try it out. Obviously ask your nutritionist if you can.

I do a Protein shake as I also don't wish to pre-cook or cook breakfast. I make a frappachino with one scoop vanilla Protein, 8 ounces unsweetened almond milk, a squirt of folgers drops and ice. Some days I add sf Torani caramel Syrup, some days sf white chocolate, some days sf Belgian cookie. All total it makes a 24 ounce shake and the Protein powder I use gets me 25 g protein. It DOES NOT taste like a Protein Shake, it tastes like Starbucks! I drink it on the way to work and I then have 24 ounces Fluid in as well.

Plain Protein shakes will get boring pretty fast. Play with them and flavor them to make them taste better!

In the beginning I ate yogurt. Then I added high Protein low carb granola to my yogurt. Now I simply have a Protein shake for breakfast although today I had mine very early so I ended up having cottage cheese late morning which is a staple in my house post surgery

I cannot eat eggs, they actually make me feel sick but if I could I would definately eat them. They only take a few minutes to prepare and the protein is high, also you can do so much with eggs.< /p>

I have heard others leverage retried Beans as well.

I don't want to just have Protein drinks every morning.

Maybe after surgery you'll change your mind about this. I've had a Protein shake just about every morning (except maybe 4 days) for the past 15 months. It's part of my switch to an "eat to live" mentality. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy food – I do! In fact, my wife is a wonderful cook and we love going out to restaurants. It's just that food fuels my day now, rather than vice versa. Good luck!

I buy a small ham and a block of cheese -- usually Gouda or pepper jack. I slice the ham and cut the cheese <middle school grin> to resemble something like a lunchable.

I also eat refried pinto Beans and melted cheese.

I don't have time for scrambled eggs very often, but when I do, I add cheese and a pat of butter and they are delicious.

I often buy a pound of bacon, bake it all and nibble on it over the week.

Leftover taco meat reheated with cheese is yum as is meat sauce without the Pasta.

Don't just think breakfast food! Think meat and cheese!!

I realize I will be doing a lot of drinks after the surgery that's one reason I want to avoid them so much now but maybe what I need to do is open my mind to food that isn't traditionally breakfast

I am 3 weeks post-op. I eat Greek yogurt or cottage cheese with applesauce. I plan to try egg salad next. These are all easy. You can buy the eggs already hard-boiled to make your own, or find a good deli. Are you a Pinner? I have found many good recipes on Pinterest. Good Luck!!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
