5 Days until surgery....Restless

Recommended Posts

I'm new to this forum and am trying to understand it all. I've set up two tickers which will personally help me. Yesterday, I stayed on my liquid diet, but moped around the house all day. I'm afraid I will sabotage my liquid diet by going out and about. I'm a school teacher so I've got a lot of time on my hands. My plan is to pack a cooler with my shakes and Water then go run a few errands just to get out of the house. Tomorrow I have 3 pre-op appointments at SAMMC so that will keep me busy! Anybody else have similar struggles?

I have 10 days til my surgery. I too am a teacher. I went over to set up the furniture in my classroom yesterday. Got an early start due to the lifting restrictions after surgery. Keeping busy helps take my mind off food. I am fortunate that my preop diet is very low carb, not strictly liquids. Next week, I will probably try to do more shakes though because the Protein sources I am eating are high in fat :(. Next week I am booked with preop appointments and workshops. Worried about the desire to snack during the workshops.

I wish I could go set my room up but our school is closed for another week! My husband who is very supportive is going to set my classroom up - per my instructions of course. I too am worried about the workshops and back to school foods. The first couple of days I will still be on puréed foods. My husband and I were trying to come up with foods and/or restaurants I could eat at because you know as a teacher, it's all about where are you going to eat lunch on days when we don't have students. I did read somewhere that you can take a Quest cookie dough Protein Bar and slice it into eights and bake them on parchment paper for a "cookie" snack.

I am on day 11 of the liquid diet and its soooooooooooooooo boring. I know it needs to be done but oh my. I can't wait for the puree food week lol. Three shakes a day is doable but every now and again I have a popsicle just so I can chew something. This time next week I will be out of surgery, God willing. The days are dragging now though so keeping busy is good!

Best wishes to you both

Kate

@@kashco I was fortunate that the custodians started cleaning/waxing in my hall, so it was the first one done. I just spent 2+ hours over there and got half of my boxes down and unpacked. They were all library books, so I got them sorted accordingly. It wiped me out. I was hoping to do more, but will have to go back tomorrow.

Gonna have to focus on housework next week in the evenings so there is some sense of order around the house for surgery.

Still anxiously waiting for insurance to make up their mind! Do they know how torturous this is?

I'm with you on the housework. I'm making sure that everything is extra clean and tidy and all bills are paid up because my man child, aka husband, is clueless.

I'm on day 10 of the liquid diet. I did get out of the house and stuck to it so I'm feeling pretty good about that. @@Invictus sorry you didn't get as much accomplished at school as you would like....I always over estimate how much I will get done when getting ready for school. I'm very fortunate on the insurance. My husband is active duty military so I had to jump through their hoops but from what I've read is minor compared to what many of y'all are going through. @ I'm so ready for puréed food too!

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
