About 10oz a day

I agree. How many grams of Protein?

If you are eating extremely lean Protein sources but only getting 10 oz of that it still seems low.

What is your protein goal? Mine is 100 grams a day. The lowest I have seen on these boards has been 60 grams and that is for folks with a very low starting BMI.

I work very hard to get at least 100 grams of protein and 64 oz of Fluid a day which leaves very little room for good carbs (vegetables and fruits). I avoid starches (Pasta, bread, rice, starchy vegetables).

You mentioned you are craving sweets. The more carbs/sweets you eat, the more you crave them (at least that is how it works for me). If you are craving sweets try drinking a low carb Protein shake or eating a sugar free Popsicle. You've got to get the starches out of your diet or you will continue to crave them.

What does your NUT advise? Maybe it's time to make an appointment.

They say u should never it rice because it expands in the stomach. Also there are some sweets that are sugar free candies that kill my cravings u just have to check that section in the store. I'm losing slow too but I'm never hydrated enough nor do I get enough Protein because I have so much pain when I eat or drink. The more protein u take in the better. If u don't get enough protein ur body goes into starvation mode and stores fat.

I am confused. You profile says you had your surgery in November of 1999. So, you have lost 47 pounds in 16 years? I just recently had my 18 month follow-up and the doctor reminded me that to get off my plateau and come into goal, I need to get 80 grams of Protein. I asked again about a carb limit, and she said that if I eat my 20 grams of Protein first (all of it) at every meal, the carbs and calories will come into line line at around 1000 calories and 50 non-starchy carbs.

She also suggested that when I use my elliptical bike to use more of the elliptical function instead of the recumbant bike function, strength training twice a week and cardio every day.

I think there's something wrong with the dates in the profile because I've tried to fix mine several times because I'm still pre op and it won't adjust and goes back to the 1999 date as well.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
