Oh I am sorry hunny! My daughter once told me if I was going to eat something I would "blow up" so I know the feeling. You are in the right place and you are going to take care of yourself!

I remember one time when I was probably around 10 my family was swimming at the lake near our house when a group of neighbor ladies showed up to swim. I said something to my mom along the lines of...you must have been embarrassed to get out of the lake in front of them. I don't think my mom ever went swimming in public again. She wasn't even that overweight, just a bit chunky. At the time, I know I had no intention to hurt her feelings, I just made a stupid observation and to this day, 20+ years later I still feel truly horrible that I would have said something so insensitive.

Your daughter is only 6 and I'm sure she has absolutely no idea how hurtful her comment was. You are taking steps to improve your health (I'm at goal weight and I HATE jumping rope, so good for you for doing that) and your daughter will eventually see that you did what needed to be done to be healthy. With any luck she will have no memory of her insensitive comment and when she is 31 like me she won't look back and think...omg, how could I have ever been so cruel without even realizing it!

@@skyjones

from the mouths of babes

hearing that must have hurt a lot :(

give it a while

before you know it, you'll be jumping hoops around her!!!

then she might say something like

"hey mom not fair, you're going too fast!!" :o

one of they many good reasons people say they are loosing weight

is so they can enjoy being with their kids :)

as you loose weight, you will be able to keep up with others

head high, you will succeed

run after your daughter and catch her!!

good luck bud :)

I have a 5 year old who says mean things sometimes. They don't mean it to hurt us, they just don't have that ability to think before they speak yet. My son tells me my tummy is big all the time. I've just learned to laugh about it. I can't wait to lose this weight and have my son be proud of me.

When my son was 5 I was talking to a friend about a diet I was on and told her "there's a skinny girl in here somewhere" and patted my stomach and my five year old turned around saw me and loudly ask across the room "well momma why did you eat her?" I wanted the floor to open and swallow me! Kids are honest and sometimes it's brutal!

going over to my sisters house casually

(it was the only one that looked someone ok on me)

i was so embarrassed

i'm sorry your little one said that

but he'll realize sooner than later that you have lost weight

then he'll pay you a compliment like

wow mom, i'm so glad we can run and play together!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
