It's not my marriage I'm worried about, it's my relationship with my friends...

Recommended Posts

Well just one friend really but it's been a very interesting experience. My wife is 1000% supportive and I don't have any worries at all that WLS will cause any problems with my marriage. What it does seem to be causing issues in is my relationship with my best friend.

It didn't take a lot of reflection to realize that a large part of my relationship with my best friend, in the past, has revolved around eating and drinking. Now it's like we don't have much to do when we hang out. It's pretty interesting so far and I'm really only 8 weeks into this process. I'm sure it will even itself out but I thought some of you on here might have the same issues.

That's really interesting, I do have the same type of routine with a few friends. I either offer alternatives like the movies, a coffee shop, the mall, etc- or I suggest that we go eat somewhere where I can get Soup if they really want to eat.

Struggling with same here. So far I have suggested walking at the mall for lunch and restaurants with tortilla Soup so I know I can eat.

NCTRNL - I don't know dude... we could walk the mall looking for chicks. Go to the food court to nibble on some Sbarro and get caught up on all the latest fashions while listening to the newest music produced by today's "artist".

Oh yeah, that sounds like man heaven to me.

So, here's the thing about the Guys' Room.........and all of the other specialized forums. The posts show up on the main forum page with no indication of which specialized forum they might have been posted in. The only way I know not to look is if the emogie clearly looks like a male or female. Alex, can this be fixed so that guys and gals can have their privacy?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
