In the medical field that always confused me too. Being a nurse I came to realize both cc and cm were the same thing. Some docs like the cm instead of cc. Go figure!

Oh and by the way, there are NO dumb questions.

From a used to be science teacher- now sahm with three children. cc means cubic centimeter. It is a unit for voulme so you are right and your doctor is right sort of. a cc is the volume of a cube 1 cm by 1 cm by 1 cm. there for cubic for times itself 3 times) and centimeter for the measurement. (it also is the volume of 1 cc = 1 ml (mililiter) :Bunny :P

thanks alot for the replies so they are the same right?

i sure ain't no math/science teacher but doesn't cc pertain to liquid volume and cm pertain to length or width? so, an inamed band may be 9.75 cm (long) but it holds up to 4cc's (liquid volume) in it's bladder. ??? correct me if i'm just stoooopid. lol

OK- you use cm if measuring length and cm3 or cc or mL if measuring volume. Since volume occupies the same space for equal amounts (ie a pepsi can holds 12 oz or equivalent amount in mL or cc's. But you can calculate its volume by using the volume formula for a cylinder using the radius squared (length) x pi x height (length) to give you the same number of mL but it will be in cm3 or cc's.

For those that don't want remedial geometry 101- the length of the band would be measured in cm and the volume is in cc's (which is based on the idea of cubic centimeter :glasses

I'm Also A Nurse, And Have Never,,,,,, Heard Cm Interchanged With Cc. Cc Is liquid Volume 30cc To An Ounce, Cm Is Size... Unless He Is Reffering To How Closed He Made The Band... (pointer And Middle Finger Together Is Appx 3cm) In Otherwords Maybe He Made The Band Space 1cm Shorter... Ask Him, Don't Be Afraid To Ask Your Md A Question. Ro
