Bypass was Monday. . Home sore as... ! Venting session

Recommended Posts

First night at home was a challenge. So for stuck with this drain tube, and my stomach is super sore. Tried so many ways to get comfortable in my bed , fail number 1 : my bed is high off the floor and my short self needs help to get on . My husband has literally grab my ass checks and put me in the bed and gently as possible. Tried to put all these pillow and folded blankets around me to get myself comfy , woke up in pain at 130am. Fail 2 hubby said ton wake him to help me move or potty. What he do .. zzzzzzz. So I screamed at my teenager to come help and he did .. walked in the restroom and keep the door slightly opened so he can still reach me , but I wanted to close it and he saw (tmi) my tampon wrapper and asked ,mom u started your period too ?!, I sure did started my period _ perfect timing fail 3.. now I'm sitting in my recliner with my back super sore and stomach sore and trying to burp or far whichever comes out first .. and my 5 yr old wants to watch batman. Took half a dose of my pain meds and sipping on my Protein Shake ..

It will be much easier in about a week. Hang in there! Just get as much rest as you can - sleeping comfortably is likely going to elude you for a few more nights - would recommend sleeping in recliner for ease of getting to restroom when necessary. Also, don't be afraid of the pain meds - they help you sleep, which is what you need to do to let your body heal. I'm two weeks post surgery and can finally completely roll around in bed without feeling like something inside of me is going to tear

Think my recliner will be best .. so far it's been easier to get up and sit back down. Did walk in the patio & still trying to pass this gas, burping a bit more. Doing the meds in small doses until I get my mom to get my little one so I can nap ..

I slept most comfortably I. The recliner for the first few days. Walk as much as possible, it really helps. Up and down the driveway is nice so you can get out. Hope you recover quickly!

So sorry for your discomfort. It's so hard getting through the first stages of recovery. But every day brings you closer to feeling like yourself again, and I hope you get to that point as quickly as possible.

Take good care of yourself, and find a long stick to poke hubby out of his coma next time you need some help! ????

Still in my recliner, wish I was in my bed snuggled with my hunny but we scared since I have this damn bag. Finally got some gas x and it's been working, slowly but I'm happy to say I'm passing gas, lmao.

Wednesday I should get this drain bag out of me. Taking it one hour at a time

The hubby sleeps a little closer to the recliner so he can hear me cause it hurts when I scream.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
