I am on day 9 of a 2 week pre-op liquid diet to shrink my liver before surgery.

I have only lost 5 pounds!

I'm watching my sodium intake and drinking plenty of Water. And following the diet perfectly.

My PCP (?) said most people lose between 10-15 lbs, but I am nowhere near that! Has anyone else experienced this? I don't really know what to think and My surgery is on July 20th.

I tried eating a 250 calorie Lean cuisine, and yeah, it didn't go down well after pretty much nothing but liquids. Also, the sodium in those things! Too much.

Because my shakes give me diarrhea, i've been drinking a small amount of pedialyte.

Stopping my birth control probably didnt help matters.

Haha! Depends on which time of day I decide to weigh myself. So far, in the morning (my lowest weight time), i've lost around 8 pounds or 7.5.

Still a slow climb.

My nutritionist said the best time to weigh ourself is in the morning before eating anything. So that might be accurate. Starting my liquid diet today and hoping Aug 4 gets here in no time.

Hey there!! I'm on day 5 of my "diet". Surgery is July 30th. I'm also only allowed 3 Protein Shakes a day, plus SF Jello or low sodium broth in between. I'm having trouble now because i'm not hungry but wish i had different options/flavors. Any suggestions?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
