It gets better I promise. You have already made a huge decision to get healthy. You can do this, the pre-op diet is no joke but after a few days you will get into the routine of it. Think about how amazing you are going to look in a year! Every month you will be smaller! You will feel and be healthier! Good luck!!!!

It gets better, but not overnight. It took me 6 months after surgery to reach a Happy State.

If you survived 2 knee replacements, I guarantee you can do this! Just think of every step as physical therapy just like you had to do for your knees to be able to walk again. The pre-or diet is tough but gets a little easier. It will absolutely be worth it in the end though!

And I'm REALLY sorry for the tiny font in the post above...

Just think of the extra calories you burn as you squint to read it...

Welcome to the forums. Your knees will be so much better after weight loss! I was in horrible pain at over 300 pounds and at 197 I walked my first 5k this summer. No NSAIDs, just the occasional Tylenol. Truly a miracle.

It does get better! For me the best part of the pre-op diet was that I used that to get past the carb and aspartame addiction. I have awful headaches for the first three or four days. Once those passed, it was so much easier. I was just glad I got that out of the way before surgery. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
