After a very lengthy time in the Comprehensive Weight Management Program at my clinic undergoing classes, support groups, doctors appointments, testing, etc., it is finally time for my surgery tomorrow. I am actually surprised at how relaxed and calm I am about it at this point. For the past months, I have been practicing taking small sips, tiny bites, and chewing, chewing, chewing but until I actually do it post-surgery, I don't know what it is actually going to feel like. Just wanted to thank everyone for all of the wonderful advice that I have gotten from reading other member's posts. I've gotten some great information and tips. If you are a spiritual person, please keep me in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow. Thanks!

Good luck on your big day! I can't imagine how good it feels to know that by this time tomorrow you will be well on your way to a better life. Kinda jealous but very excited for you! :)

Hey Lisa Love!

You are better than I am. I am best at watching what I eat, doing nearly vegan whole foods and working out.

My surgery is friday, and I imagine that's when I will become a small sipper. Do you know anything about coffee post op? I suspect it will be strictly Decaf from now on. I grieve the anticipated loss of caffeine.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
