How much can you eat? (volume/weight wise)

Recommended Posts

I am curious how much everyone can eat at one given time. 2oz? 4oz? 8oz? more?

The most I've ever eaten is 4oz at one time at 2 months post-op, and I'm wondering if that is full capacity or no? I generally don't push myself to eat more because I've never been sick after surgery and don't wanna be.

Also please state how far out you are.

I am only 2 weeks out on purees. I can eat 3-4ozs. When I say I "can" I mean I am satisfied after that amount. Can I ask you what it would feel like if you pushed it?

I'm 8 months post and I just eat a Cup of shredded lettuce, 1 thin slice of pepper jack cheese and I thin slice of turkey cut up in it. I'm FULL. Really just depends on what your eating. I make peel and eat shrimp a lot and can only eat 4-5 max of them. I do a Protein Shake 99% of the time for Breakfast because my stomach is even tighter then.

Im 10 weeks post op and I can only eat about 2 strawberries at a time. Not sure on the oz. I've been very restricted since the beginning and I've learned the hard way, but I have learned how to eat and I am down 75 lbs. ????

You're so lucky. I can already eat more than that. I've noticed quite a difference even this month.

Sigh. I will just have to be more careful from here on out.

*Sheds tear*

Right now at 3 weeks I can drink about 4-5 ounces.... I'm on soft foods now and to be honest after 3-4 small bites I'm finished....

I'm almost 3 months out. I can eat about 4/4.5 ounces of dense Protein comfortably. I don't weigh my food after cooking, I only go by the packaged weights on products. I've never felt bad after eating anything, or felt like I overate.

I can feel restriction better with things like oatmeal. If I make a 1/2 cup serving of oats (yields ~1 cup cooked oatmeal) i can't eat 3/4 of it.

5 months out, I can eat 3 ounces of Protein and 1/2 cup max of veggie. Still do Protein shakes for breakfast most days.

I'm 5 weeks out, and can comfortably eat 3-4 ounces of chicken in about 30 minutes or so.

Yesterday was my 1-year anniversary. I can eat about 8 oz of food. If it's very dense Protein it's less.

Usually I weigh everything I eat so I won't push it, but occasionally when eating I will get an uncomfortable feeling in my chest and know to stop. I would imagine that food is sitting on top of my already full stomach and thus creates a "pain" but I'm not a doctor so who knows.

About a little over 1 month post op and I can have anything, fortunately I only have 3-4 oz at a time, and try to keep the routine of 1 shake per day

3-4 oz of Protein (depending on what kind) and a couple of bites of veggies. Never thought I'd eat my protein and be like..c'mon, you can eat a third brussel sprout! (nope, don't do it!)

Most mornings, when I take my few pills and my two chewable Bariatric fusions I'm full. My shake I make lasts most of the morning. So I'd say at almost a year I still have plenty of restriction. I'm very thankful it's the case. I hope it continues.

I'm with you Babs. I eat quite a bit more than what everybody else is eating. Doesn't seem like I even have restrictions. I seem to have to control myself like before surgery. Hmmmm....don't know what to do. Just not losing and frustrated. Help

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
