Fatigue at 7 months post op

Recommended Posts

I am 7 months post op and down 100 pounds. I've completely gotten off blood pressure meds and I am taking my daily Vitamins and getting at least 80 grams of Protein a day. (I'm making sure I do at least 2 Protein shakes a day as my levels were a little low at about 4 months out. )

The last two weeks I am really feeling exhausted and I last time I felt this way, I knew it was my blood pressure was too low, indicating it was time to completely go off my meds. Doctors agreed and then I was fine. I am feeling the same type of exhaustion but my bp is good. I've been checking it on a regular basis to make sure that isn't an issue.

I am still on thyroid meds, and wondering if its time to go in and have those levels rechecked.

Anyone go thru similar situtation? I'm waiting on the doc to get back to me. I know I am doing everything right, but feel like my body is telling me something.

Having your levels checked for everything sounds like a god idea. Make sure you are getting enough fluids also as dehydration can deplete your energy. Hope you get an answer soon!

I'm going into my regular dr on Friday to have blood work done. I'm also really bloated and gassy, which hasn't been an issue. Going over food log, nothing stands out as a culprit except sugarfree coffee Syrup. Build up maybe?

@@Karess Haivala I am five months out from surgery today. We have the same surgeon. I, too, was on blood pressure medication but went off about a month after surgery after my blood pressure dipped extremely low and caused severe dizziness and fatigue. My PCP told me to add more salt to my food and my nutritionist told me to eat fresh fruit. I did both, for a week, and it helped bring my blood pressure up.

I have recently increased my fitness routine by an extra 30 minutes a day and one more day a week and have noticed the fatigue coming back. A couple of days ago I increased my caloric intake by 100 and added a banana post morning workout. That has helped a bit. I was taking in approximately 800 to 900 calories and for the past couple of days have gone up to 1,000 to 1,050. I do drink more than the 64 ounces of Water each day. I usually drink 80 to 90 ounces a day (with an extra 8 ounces during the night).

Have you spoken with the PA or with the nutritionist about it yet?

Thanks for the response! They did suggest I add in some salt too. I had a thyroid test done and I've been on thyroid meds fir about ten years. For the first time since I've been on them, my levels gave gone up. (My dr said most people feel best closer to a 1, my recent test has me at a 3.5). We are increasing my medication in the hopes of bringing me closer to a 1 again. This *could* be the problem! but it will be a little of trial and error with changing dosages to figure it all out.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
