Everything seems to make me sick- 2 1/2 months out.

Recommended Posts

Ok so I'm 2 1/2 months out and I seem to be getting sick everyday. I cany seem to find a Protein that won't make me gag. Just thinking about certain foods make my stomach turn. Help!! Has anyone else felt this way? One night I'm fine with shrimp or chicken and the next day, yuck!!

The key is experimentation. Try many things and then stick to those that work for you. I found that chili and Soups went down smoothly so I stuck with that. I made my own so I could use twice the Protein than found in store bought Soups. I have included a few recipes in the following article. http://www.breadandbutterscience.com/Surgery.pdf Your Protein requirement is the sum of the protein you get from meals combined with the protein you get from supplements (Protein shakes and protein bars). So as your meal volume increases, if you concentrate on high protein meals, you can reduce the number of Protein Shakes you need to take each day.

Same boat here. The thought of a Protein shake makes me gag and with only being able to eat very small amounts of Protein I can't seem to get in enough! And then if I'm eating I'm not drinking so I'm not getting in all my liquids!

Hello there,

I still have times when I do not feel like eating as well. I try to at least get a little bit of Protein in when I feel like that. The first 6 weeks were probably the most difficult for me as I had no appetite what so ever! I actually found a great book on Amazon that I downloaded to my Kindle for like $4. that has some great recipes. I am actually really enjoying the variations. It's called "Chef Dave's Recipes for Weight Loss Surgery Success." I highly recommend it. There are several ideas for each phase. Especially the stage you're in there are a lot the utilize protien supplments and others that are just regular foods. Each recipe shows nutritional value as well.

I'm actually going to have an endoscopy done in the next couple days. I can get liquid down, but most foods make me vomit.

@@ChattyChatterton - I am only 7 weeks out, but just had this same experience with scrambled eggs. One day I had a half of scrambled egg and it tasted amazing, I was pretty excited. The next day I ate two bites and my mouth started watering like I was going to throw up (thank god, I never did). I don't understand either, but now I don't want to try it again!

@Spiceyfrog My surgery was June 1st, how much can you eat at one time? I'm having trouble getting down one thin slice of lunch meat! And I too have experienced the it's good one day can't do it the next with pinto Beans. It's crazy!

@@sparksrn, I just had about 10-12 soybeans for lunch, that about what I can eat :-) The ONLY thing I can eat in a bit larger quantity is yogurt, I can eat a whole container, but it takes me about a half hour. Anything else, 1/4C max.

@Spiceyfrog thanks, so it's not weird that I can't eat a whole slice of thin lunchmeat?

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
