CROD83 1 Posted July 20, 2015 I'm having my sleeve done July 28th from Indiana
Chris-NYC 27 Posted July 22, 2015 Hey everyone I just had my gastric sleeve surgery on Monday am still in the hospital. Surgery was scheduled for 1 PM however I walked into the operating room at 4:15 and was in recovery by 5:25 cording to the doctor and my family. after waking up in recovery the only pain I had was back pain from all the gas used in my body. On a pain scale 1 to 10 my pain level was a 8-9????, they quickly gave me something and I dozed back off????. I spend the next few hrs in recovery waiting on a empty room. I was in my room by 9:30pm and by then was in no pain at all. As a matter of fact I felt so good that I started walking at 10pm for about 20 mins Monday night doctors and nurse was very surprise that I felt so good. I also had no appetite even though last time I ate was Saturday night. On Tuesday I spend the day going for tests and started drinking drinking liquids for the first time. My first slip of Water made me very noshes however I did not throw up or anything. After that I switch to a different drink and feel better. Because my my stomach was still swollen I felt extremely extremely full like I just went to a all you can eat buffet twice in the same day. I felt very miserable most of the day ????and could not drink more than approximately 20 ounces of liquid. Doctors told me once I'm able to drink 64 ounces or close to 64 ounces I will be released from the hospital which should be sometime today. Currently I am no longer nauseous my pain level is very minimum I am already taking crush medication instead of through the IV. On a pain scale 1 to 10 I feel like a 3. ???? 26Amy 1 Posted July 22, 2015 Hi, I had my first consult today so all going well I'll have my sleeve done next June (I have a 12 month wait for my health insurance). I have told my Mum & a couple of friends only, one friend is super supportive but I can tell my Mum & my other friend aren't for me having the procedure. I need some advice on what to tell people, particularly my co-workers as id love to not have to tell people and have a cover story for why I'm not eating etc. What are everyone else's thoughts. What have people told others?
Chris-NYC 27 Posted July 22, 2015 Hey Amy I told just a hand full of family members & family, but stopped after one co-worker was not being support. When I finally did get approved for a Surgery date I told my coworkers that I'll be on a two-week vacation and I made up a trip. Am still in the hospital but when I return to work I will mention to them that I change my diet and been working out alot while out of town so as the weight comes off they won't question me

Prater77 13 Posted July 22, 2015 Hi 26Amy! I am in the same situation! My family (except son and husband) is non-supportive and I am not telling any co-workers. I've seen posts where ppl tell others that they had gallbladder surgery. Others have taken vacation and just said they went on strict diets. I do not plan on telling anyone at work and am unsure how I will explain the weight loss. I don't want to lie since I usually get caught if I do! I think I'm going to stick with the 'strict diet' story since that is truth. Even tho it's only partial truth, I feel like it's not their business to know:)
lmm300missouri 95 Posted July 22, 2015 I've had both responses, some are envy comes across as non support. They are afraid they are loosing their eating out buddy, dessert buddy, and someone as larger or larger than they are. I understand it all as I have been there myself when my friends lost weight. When we talk about our surgery we remind them that we are changing and they are not. I try to think of it this way, I maybe leading them to a better life by example. If they are thinking I'm taking the "easy" way out I remind them this surgery is anything but easy. I have multiple health reason that I hope this helps, plus others I don't want to end up having. I have not had one person say "GREAT". So do what you need for you and hope they become supportive afterwards when you look great, but they might still be jealous then. Running2theSleeve 40 Posted July 23, 2015 I would love to have some buddies! I even posted how I have little support! My mom nor sisters understand (they have never weighed over 150) I just really got my 3 babies and 3 more iffy' s now. But imma do this! It helps having this forum! My mind is so consumed with getting this surgery now and it's sad when you have no one to really talk to. I'm at the end stages of my pre op testing and looking forward to a Sept/Oct date. Chris-NYC 27 Posted July 23, 2015 (edited) Hey running2thesleeve you can add me as a friend if you want a buddy. At first my mom wasn't very supportive infact he would avoid talking about the topic until meeting with the dr the day of surgery and they reassured her why the surgery is a good option. I after surgery I was taken off my blood pressure medication which made my mom very happy. Now she is very supportive after surgery. If there's anything I can answer for you please feel free to ask.
