Revision in ten days. . Very nervous

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone. .Just joined.

I was banded in August 2010. I'm on my preop diet scheduled for revision from band to bypass on the 22nd. It's taken years and 8 canceled surgery dates and a change of surgeons and insurance hurdles, infections, and a total of four years from wheni decidedto revise to get to this point and I'm terrified that the scar tissue will prevent the revision. .I don't think my nerves could handle another postponement.

Right now I'm really struggling with the preop liquid diet. I'm kept up at night by hunger pangs and I'm too weak to do anything.

I'm also very nervous about all the things to keep track of. The Protein, the Vitamins, the liquid, I'm si s scared I'll mess it up and harm my recovery. I have adhd so preplanning and tracking are a huge challenge. I'm open to any ideas to help simplify the process and calm my nerves.

My main goal with this surgery is to aleviate my pcos and start ovulating again. I'm 30 years old.

Do you use myfitnesspal.com? I have used it to track everything I eat since my surgery 10 months ago and it keeps track of your Protein, carbs, sugar, etc. You can set custom calorie goals. You can track Water there too. At first, you will have a harder time getting things in, but do your best. Once you get into the swing of the Vitamins, it will be easier to do that too. I have a few in the morning, a few more at night, and spread my Calcium throughout the day.

I used Google calendar to organize my diet schedule. Example: 7:00 am, Vitamins, 8:00 am, Protein drink., 11:00 am Protein snack... etc. I set up a ten-minute warning alert. After three months, I was able to go without the calendar app.

I too struggle with adhd. I'm 5 weeks post-op with bypass. Don't stress so much about missing pills. I got a 4 compartment a day pill case and I try for 4 meals a day. This way I can spread them out during the day and I forget one at least every 2 or 3 days. We're not perfect but getting apps on my phone is a life saver.

I have an Android phone. I use BariatricTimer. It helps to time no drinking 30 min before and after meals and I also time eating every three hours.

I track my food (calories, carbs, and protein), liquids not just Water, and exercise with SparkPeople. It works for me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
