hello fellow sleevers! I am 6 months out and I am down 70lbs...is that pretty much on track? I am 5'6" and started at 320. I just want to know if that is pretty much the norm or if I should be further down.

6 months - down 70lbs... 5'6 started at 320

@@Addawn

as is frequently said

we are all different

we loose different weight amounts, in different time periods

an "average" weight loss could be 10 lbs a month :)

some people loose less, some more

you have lost 70 lb since surgery??? :)

6 months X 10 lbs = 60 lbs

you've lost 70 lbs

you are doing great :)

gold star!!!

keep doing what you are doing :)

good luck

kathy

Agree that everyone is different. Comparing can be negative, but sometimes you just really want to know if your experience is typical or not. I think the best place to get objective comparison is from your surgeon's office. They should be able to tell you how your loss tracks with the typical results they see based on your starting weight, age, gender, type of operation, etc. I can tell you that my surgeon would be happy with your loss. My surgeon usually likes to see 70% excess weight loss after 12 months. By that standard, you're more than on track. BUT AGAIN, most important thing is how you're feeling in terms of your health and changing lifestyle.

Thank you! I am actually leaving to see my doctor in a few minutes. I don't know why I have this feeling that I am failing. Last week I carried 70 lbs around the gym for a few minutes just to see what I have done. If felt REALLY heavy, and I can't imagine that I carried that much all the time...but it didn't help me get over this negative feeling that I should be further along. Hopfully this visit will the Doc will help me one way or the other.

I think it stems from our past "failures" that we carry in our head. I go through it was well, this feeling that I'm waiting for the shoe to drop......like I won't succeed. I just keep reminding myself that I'm doing the right things, following the program and I feel better. Feeling good is my motivation.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
