Funky work out clothes...

Recommended Posts

Help me with this. My work out pants are funky. Even after running them thru the wash twice, I still smell some musk to them. And when I wear them again that odor comes out stronger, especially with the sweat from my routine.

The pants are polyester/spandex, with"coolmax" gusset lining. My sports bra/tops wash and smell fime afterwords...it's just these pants.

They were getting to big, so it's time to shop for new stuff... But is there a material I should try and avoid or seek out??

I wear polyester/spandex. I'm not sure what cool max is. (I will google it) I like the material because breathes better when you sweat and does not rub skin when you workout. Cotton seems to stick to my body with sweat. I avoid it.

I use laundry scent booster. It seems to work. My running shoes get fabreezed daily ;).

I hope to hear other responses of what works well for workout gear

Febreeze laundry refresher. My mom had to wash my basketball clothes with some vinegar when I was in high school.

Try Sport Wash. You can get it at sporting goods stores and on Amazon. It helps a lot. Made for synthetic fabrics.

are you letting them air dry?>

because it sounds as though the smell is from the fabric taking too long to dry.

My lululemon pants do that if they are hung in the humid bathroom to dry

I do let them air dry, but not in the bathroom, they are in my bedroom. They air dry enough to toss them in the laundry basket. If not air drying, what is the other option? I would rather try my luck with new pants before I'd be willing to hand wash or wash one piece at a time.

I've been able to toss mine in the dryer on low with no issues, but I don't buy anything super expensive either.

As for detergent, I used a sample of the Tide sport detergent on my dog's stuff. If it'll get THAT funky smell out, I doubt there's ANYTHING human it couldn't take care of!

I forgot to mention soaking in vinegar. Then wash in cold Water. This also helps remove the funk!

I totally agree with washing clothes in vinegar. If you have a HE washer you put the vinegar in the cup you'd put the bleach in, My one pants use to get that way and that seem to solve the problem

I buy from a variety of places, but I dry everything in the bathroom. I bought one of those dryer racks and I come home hang everything up and liberally spray with a generic antibacterial spray. My swimsuit I soak in cold Water and then give the same treatment.

I prefer to purchase pieces that are sweat wicking, but I have a few pairs that are simply compression yoga pants.

Have you tried OxyClean? Even Dollar Tree or Store brand work the same. Does your dryer have Air Dry or Ex. Low heat?

Don't know if anyone still has this issue, but throw 1/2 cup of white vinegar in the wash.. It helps!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
