I was thinking the same thing SoCalLeslie posted.

How are you dressing? Wearing the same old clothes hides your loss. But, on the flip side, you don't want to go too tight either.

If you don't want to spend on a new wardrobe yet, maybe take the waist in on skirts and tuck your blouse in, for example.

I am able to do basic sewing skills and I have had dresses that I took in at the waist before. I put the dress on inside out, pinched the fabric together on the sides and pinned it so it fit nicely around my waist (not too tight or I couldn't sit without worrying it would tear). Pulled the dress off, then laying it flat I made sure it was even (for example, pins were both 1" from the outside edge) and then I stitched by hand or machine a few inches on each side. It fit my waist making me look more slim even though the top was still full. (P.S. 1" of fabric will actually be a FOUR inch intake! Proud moment!)

THANK YOU for all the posts and kind words. I have donated all of my clothes as I went from and size 18 to almost a 14! Guess it will come. I see it and feel it and that's what matters.

I am 3 1/2 months post op and have lost 50 pounds. I have started socializing with people that have not seen me since before surgery and do not know about the surgery. Literally, not one person has commented at all. Not even a you look good. I didn't do surgery to get compliments, but now after working so hard, I just wish someone would notice. Anyone else experience this?

YOU noticed, right? Then the most important person noticed.

Sometimes people don't like to say stuff because they may feel apprehensive in implying someone needed to make a change. I know when I've seen someone whose lost weight I almost never say anything other than how good they look. If I'm close to them & they've shared their goals to lose, I'll say something more direct.

50lbs is awesome and you should be jumping for joy that you did it. Compliment yourself daily. Remember how overwhelming 50 lbs seemed like prior to help? Look at you now! You kicked 50 lbs of fat in the stones. Keep on doing that. Someone is going to notice. ;)

When you are in the grocery store, make a quick stop in the aisle where the bags of sugar are. Just try to pick up 5 10# bags and take a few steps. It will definately make you notice!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
