belindadcns 55 Posted July 12, 2015 Has anyone used their fsa in Mexico to find their surgery? I would love any information you have.
Sharon1964 2,530 Posted July 12, 2015 From what I could find, as long as an item is legal in a foreign country AND legal here, you can use FSA for it. If the item is legal in the foreign country (like certain medicines) but not legal here, you cannot use FSA for it.
Jersrose43 837 Posted July 13, 2015 I think the Fsa pays you with appropriate receipts and medical records you would do well to check in advance with your FSA for the specific guidelines set by your employer

Jersrose43 837 Posted July 13, 2015 I would have the clinic try to put through a $50 charge. Many of those are HSA accounts and the cards are restricted to where you can use them. For instance you can't use it at a gas station but can use it at a pharmacy or a target. That's in accordance with American federal legislation governing HSA accounts since the dollars are pre tax. Jersrose43 837 Posted July 13, 2015 That's is correct. So have them try a $50 charge to make sure it goes through apply it as a deposit. That way you aren't surprised when you show up and it doesn't work
