Summer is great this year. I now go out in the warm weather without trying to cover up my body with a cardigan sweater over a sundress. Bought a swim suit. I am spending my evenings after work and the gym in my hot tub. Looking forward traveling to visit family and friends this month. They have only seen pictures of me since my weight loss. Cant wait to get hugs that can wrap all the way around me.

I will fess up--I bought THREE bikinis to wear this summer after my plastics--and I'm frustrated as heck that every time I make it to the beach it's WAY too cold to wear one! Ditto the pool party I went to.

Sigh. Maybe someday. I keep bugging my husband for some tropical vacation for our 20th anniversary coming up in sept but he's not biting!

I'm really wanting plastics, too. It's disappointing to finally be thin, but not be able to really appreciate it because of the prodigious amount of loose skin on my abdomen.

But on a more positive note, my husband and I just took a long twilight walk (well I walked, he used his mobility scooter) and both of us were amazed that I could walk so much further and so much faster than last year. I'm no longer 60 going on 82. I'm now feeling like 61 going on 45.

Amazing regression in age with weight loss for lots of us! I, too, feel better than my formerly fat thirties and partial forties.

I notice pictures looking like a younger version of the same person

Very thankful⭐️????

I'm posting due to another thread....

Having WLS later In life seems to me to have some advantages.

I'm just not sure if my 20 year old head could take on a new, life long term commitment like my 51year old head did 8 years ago.

I was not thinking of my whole life then...

I also did not happen to be overweight iny 20's. That came with a not happy marriage and 2 kids in my 30's... I had over a decade of gaining- Losing-gaining cycle (that I did flirt with in my early teens)....that took me to 249 lbs. then I was serious....I'm just not clear that many 20 year olds can project a lifetime

Wondering???

I know that getting my band at age 52 had motivations I didn't have in my twenties. The comorbidities were ruining my life and I felt like an old, slowly dying woman. The first thing to happen was I got my health back. I got better mobility and a pep in my step. Then I got my self confidence back and got out of a toxic relationship. Now it's about looks. I want to look good. Not to get a man. Just to feel pretty. I've spent decades feeling like a dowdy dumpy drudge. I want to look pretty.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
