I'm so sick of water

Recommended Posts

I miss soda so much, does anyone else have any alternatives other than Water and crystal light, because I want something with a fizz to it? What about sparkling water? Help because water is starting to suck right now.

I'm curious too about sparkling stuff... There are these 0 calorie ICE drinks some people swear by, but I haven't tried it because sparkling seems to close to carbonation.... Almost like a gateway drug.

I drink diet snapple occasionally, or mix Apple juice and water.

From what I understand we can't drink anything with fizzle.

And it's not worth messing around with your recent surgery. The worst thing that could happen is you drink the fizzle and stress your new tummy that is healing. A leak would put you back in the hospital with possibly horrible complications.

You've come too far to mess around with the doctors instructions. Especially during the initial 0-4 months of healing.

In time that craving for fizzle will go away and all the effort not to drink fizzle will be worth every ounce.

Listen to the Doc, they know what they are doing.

No! It's not the soda it all about the carbonation. Trust me you DO NOT want to drink carbonation!! I don't know how far post op you are? I'm assuming you are post op anyway but if you are new the last thing you want to do is fill your tiny belly up with gas! It will hurt!

Drink some coconut Water if you like that kinda thing. At least it's a super hydrator.

I agree with @Elode...carbonation HURTS! I've tried a couple of sips recently (and I'm 11 months out) and it was not pleasant!

Like someone said...iced tea? Plain or with splenda? That's what I drink in place of my beloved Diet Cokes. It hits the spot for me :)

I am with you! I truly don't have cravings except I want carbonation so bad!! I won't. It's not worth it. Anything "sparkling" is carbonated so no go. I was just thinking about this today. I would like some more options. Crystal LIght has a lot of different flavors but it is too sweet for me, so I have to be careful and not add the whole packet to my Water. BUT what I have been doing that has helped is Decaf Green Tea with fruit flavors that I ordered from Republic of Teas. Now I order Green Tea because I have kidney stones (chronic issue pre-WLS - related to a thyroid disease I have) and not supposed to drink black tea (supposedly) because it is a high oxalate food, but if you don't have those restrictions, you might find some of these really enjoyable. I have a Ginger Peach flavor that I really like (has gotten me through my morning nausea) and Superfruit (or Passionfruit or something like that) that is also good but once poured in to ice it eventually turns a funny color which puts me off (silly I know). They even have chocolate teas and teas that are similar to sangria on this website. I was just looking at the catalog and thinking the new Hibiscus Herbal tea with different flavors sounded good. Hope that helps!

I wasn't able to tolerate anything the first week after surgery let alone Water, I am doing well now and am learning new skills everyday, here is an example of my drink arsenal, and their are others, try these it may help

BTW I have yet to crave sodas, yet I want my energy drink so bad lol

There are a Walmart brand of MIOS so I have a variety

Lemonade

Tropical

Grape

Tang orange w/ 1g carbs

Green tea

Powerade zero

Crystal light lemon

Crystal light peach tea

I don't know but I've been told by many people to stay way from Gatorade but I don't know why yet,

I also think there are other flavored waters that may help and the only thing I do to make sure I drink is I always put lots of ice in my drink.......

Water gets boring, and my brother had the sleeve 5 mos ago, and he started drinking wine within the 1st month of being sleeved, and I'm 3 mos post op bypass, and just want a little carbonation, and I figure he does wine, so why I can't have some sparkling water?

Does Gatorade have a no calorie/low calorie version? I don't know becuase I don't drink it.

If not, I can probably tell why they don't want you to drink it....calories. Empty, non nutritious calories. Those are a WLS persons nightmare. Try not to ever drink your calories unless it's a Protein shake.

I was told we can have G2

G2 is the one that is controversial, something about the ingredients and electrolytes, I just can't piece together what it is, I was told Powerade zero is much better, so until I find out exactly why I'm sticking with powerade

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
