Are you Kidding Me?

Recommended Posts

I finally get the call from the doctors office and they scheduled me for August 3! That seems like forever away, and I'm ready NOW! Apparently the surgeon will be out from the 13th of July on, what nerve of him to take a 3 week vacation! (just kidding of coarse) I just really wanted to be banded by the end of July, I don't know how some of you have waited so long for approval, I would be pulling my hair out!

Wow, how frustrating. How long did it take you to finally get a date? Of course, look at this way, the surgeon should be fully rested when he performs your surgery. Aug 3rd will be here bf you know it. Hang in there!

Congrats on getting a date! Use the time to practice eating the "right" way now. I'm excited for you!

Who knows...maybe your doc will be playing video games on his vacation. I heard something about docs that do that are good with hand/eye coordination...makes a better surgeon?

wanabthin, congrats on your date! You are so lucky to have things move forward with such speed. I went to my first seminar in May and I will have to wait a year before I get a date! And yes, I am pulling my hair out! Best of Luck to you.

It'll fly by! It's only a month away! Use this time to start practicing the bandster rules. Small bites, chew well, eat slow and NO DRINKING WITH MEALS.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
