How long did you have to crush medications?

I haven't had the op yet but I got all my meds for the next three months in liquid form from my Doctor. I have the op a week on Thursday. He's left it on repeat prescription in case I need a further 3 months too.

Never, even though I had quite a few medications the first few months.

Never did, as long as they were small as a m&m it was good. Cut others in half. I'm on theophylline and they are big capsules, I took those with no trouble.

I was told to wait two weeks for anything that was extended release. Those cant be crushed so I got the short acting in liquid form or pill form and crushed them. I took them once. I've never tasted a dog's butt, however if I had to guess I bet it would taste like those meds. Called my docs and got cleared to stop taking them for two weeks.

I started back on pills 24 hours after surgery with no problems. I take an extended release anti-depressant, and I haven't noticed anything that would suggest I'm not absorbing it well. I also take an extended release NSAID for tendinitis occasionally, and my surgeon cleared me to take that one week post-op.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
