byebyebmi 100 Posted July 10, 2015 The search function on my phone isn't working very well and when I type stuff in it gives me irrelevant topics. I'm sorry if this has been asked 100 times but: How soon can I shower and/or bathe after the surgery? I'm sure it's a shorter time to shower than take a bath since in the bath you're submerged. Are there any restrictions on walking up stairs after surgery?
ladycook9713 442 Posted July 10, 2015 I was told 48 hours after surgery for a shower. And it was a couple weeks before a bath. And no restrictions on stairs other than take it slow, and don't be climbing a ton of them.
Babbs 14,681 Posted July 11, 2015 I took a shower in the hospital the day I went home (had surgery on a Friday, went home Sunday). I think I was taking a bath almost immediately after I got home. You will have Water proof steri strip on your incisions. No restriction on stairs, either. They want you to walk! Just no lifting
Inner Surfer Girl 12,015 Posted July 11, 2015 I didn't have a limit on time until a shower. I took one when I got home from the hospital. My instructions were not to rub the incision sites or submerge in Water until the incisions were healed.
