I had gastric bypass on July 7. I drank a protien shake on July 6th. It's July 10. I feel so nauseated I can't even eat nor think about eating. I managed to get 1 1/2 sugar free pre made Jello cups down. 4 days and only ate 1 1/2 cups. Is this normal. I tried to drink a Water down Protein Shake but it made me vomit. :( Will I get be able to get my appetite back?

Have you tried sugar free Popsicles? I lived off them for a few weeks. Also if cold liquids don't work for you try some tea. I would reach out to your Dr's office as well they will have good advice for you. I have called my Dr's nurse line more than a few times

It seems like you are trying to consume too much at one time. I had my surgery May 27 and am still only able to consume 2 ounces of any type of food like Jello, pudding, yogurt... You have to remember you just had surgery and it takes time. My first week out I was so bad that I dehydrated myself, so my nutritionist had me focus on only fluids for three days and then work back in the Protein. I finally on the advice of another person got Fairlife milk, which has 13 g of protein, mixed it with my 1/2 scoop of my Protein Powder, which gave me 32 g of protein and 8 ounces of liquid. Three of those gave me sufficient protein and 1/2 of my liquid consumption. I also cannot seem to drink anything cold, other than my milk, room temp seems to be the best and Water is the hardest for me to get down.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
