Loose fitting clothes (as in sweats or shorts) , and pretty much things you would take on any overnight trip.

A real pillow. Chapstick. Gas X strips. My 6' iPhone cord. Trashy magazines. Of all the stuff I packed, that's what I actually used.

I needed nothing! Lips were fine, Chapstick went unopened. Hospital pillow was fine. Wore home same clothes I arrived in. Too sleepy to read or text or talk so didn't need magazines, books, phone or charger. I was only there 28 hours.

However, a tranquilizing gun to use on my drama queen roommate might have come in handy! Lol.

LOL !@sleevenv. I'll check Walmart to see if they sell those! Thanks everyone for the suggestions with the exception of the trashy magazines! But hey! To each its own right? LOL!

I plan to take gas x, Chapstick, socks, a couple changes of undies (this will be my 6th abdominal surgery and I've found that sneezing/coughing don't always end favorably when my belly is sore), toothbrush/toothpaste/mouthwash, and my kindle.

All I'm planning on taking is a loose-fitting dress (going there and back), toothbrush & toothpaste, Blistex (the blue round one is the one I like), favorite pillow and my phone and charger.

Only thing of my own that I used was my Eos (Chapstick) and a loose gown and slippers I wore home. Didn't even wear undies as I didn't want a band stretching Across my tummy. ;) never used my phone- slept too much or didn't feel like being on it. If they won't let you eat ice chips, you can at least swish one around in your mouth and spit iT out.... Was my saving grace with the HORRIBLE cotton mouth I had. I wasn't allowed any drink for 24 hrs. Until my barium drink to cheCk for leaks. Best wishes!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
