Hey guys just wanted to share i went grocery shopping today 6 days before my surgery mind you to get some stuff ill need for phase 1 and 2 after surgery and wow for the first time in 36 years of my life i was stumped between buying what i needed and buying for my husband and my kids i was overwhelmed i guess my fear is that i will make the right choices for me and for my family i dont drink Protein Shakes or drinks with artificial sweeteners id rather just drink Water and believe me im not a water drinker for a week now ive been going caffeine withdrawal headaches but i figure better before surgery than after

Anyone have any suggestions on what i can have with no artificial sweetners i would greatly appreciate it

I like to cold-brew a pitcher of Decaf iced tea with some mint sprigs from my garden thrown in. I also buy Tazo iced tea bags in "Iced Citrus Bliss" (they also have "Passion," but I didn't like that one), which so far I've only found at Target.

Life Water is good-- I feel your pain I am addicted to caffeine myself I got Decaf tea and been doing 1/2 & 1/2 going to do that 2 weeks then straight to decaf. caffeine withdrawals are no joke. Hang in there.

I am still waiting on surgery date. So this is all new.

But a suggestion make a menu of what you are going to cook for your family. Maybe cook ahead and freeze so after surgery you cam just pull out and heat.

I think writing out what I am going to eat each day while on pre surgery diet will help me.

Good luck????????

I like true lemon it's near the crystal light type stuff it's got no artificial sweetener it's either stevia or trivia something like that it's a plant based in it however I found the flavor weak so I use much more than what it says to put in to mix in Water the mango flavor I didn't care for the lemon is great also the peach tea and the raspberry also I like wylers light I had a hard time finding things to drink after as the crystal light I had drunk daily before surgery was so darn sweet and tasted FUNKY as did most things lol for a while took a couple months for me to be able to tolerate any sugar free drink again so don't be surprised if this happens my nut told me to use baby fruit juices watered down and v8 juice which I did and it helped tremendously

Sorry I meant truvia

I tried to plan it all out as well. My taste buds changed after surgery. Pre-op I loved cottage cheese and coconut Water. Post-op both of these items make me ill. Greek yogurt and powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury Protein shakes were my friends in the first weeks post op. Don't stock up on too much of any one thing as you may have different tastes after the surgery.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
