I have to much time on my hands so I'm sitting here wondering how bad my excess skin will be....is there anything I can do to help that before hand ?

The only things that help with loose skin are:

Genetics (genetic modification is advancing at a rapid rate but I don't think you will be able to alter your DNA prior to surgery)

How long you have obese (time travel doesn't exist yet, so you can't do this either)

Luck (if I were religious I'd advise prayer but since I'm an atheist, plus I've read that study about how praying for people going through surgery actually WORSENS their outcomes, so I can't advise prayer)

Age (see above with respect to time travel)

Plastic surgery (you can't remove the excess skin before you lose the weight, so that's out)

My answer is -- no, there is nothing you can do pre-surgery to prevent excess skin and really the only thing you can do post-weight loss is plastic surgery. So I would say what you should do right now to improve your eventual outcome is open a savings account for plastic surgery and come up with a plan as to how you will fund it.

There are things you can do to help minimize it. Drink lots of Water, every single day. Take collagen, powder or pills. Keep your skin well hydrated, use a body oil on moist skin and follow it up with a lotion or a cream. Do body chemical peels to make your skin turn over faster. Dry skin brushing. Wear foundation garments all day everyday. A high waist thigh shaper is perfect.

There are lots of things you can do for you skin, that will make it not as bad, but if you are going to have loose skin, you are going to have it. If you start early on good skin maintenance (which everyone should be doing anyway) it helps.

I have never seen good advice for skin on any weight loss forums, people say you can't avoid it and they focus only on losing weight.

Check stripper forums (they have all kinds of advice for snapping back and maintaining), or skin specific forums and you will finds all kinds of things.

I have been taking collagen for a few months. The skin on my face is dramatically improved, dark circles under eyes almost gone, pores almost invisible and bat wings on my arms are tighter.

Check the reviews on makeupalley for Neocell collagen+c. The pills are too big post surgery but there is a powder version

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
