Dull pain in lower back

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I am 9 days post op and really uncomfortable. I have a dull pain all over my lower back that sometimes radiates to the front. I drink anywhere between 48-64oz of Water per day. I had stopped taking my pain meds but restarted when this pain began yesterday. I thought it was because I had drank iced tea but that was once, on the 7th. My urine is really dark though which leads me to believe I'm dehydrated. I would appreciate any help. I'm worried!

Yes, I take that each day. actually in the last hour I have been downing Water and have had a lot of movement in the intestines. I hope for the pain to subside.

I have been having terrible back pain as well. My hubby says it is because my back is used to carrying around a lot more weight than it is now and it needs to adjust for my new lighter weight, I am almost 4 weeks out. As far as the dark urine, was it just from the tea?

Sound like gas pain. I had the same pain around 2 weeks post. I asked my husband to massage my back and it released the gas.

If your urine is dark, it could be a kidney stone.

@@kell778,

It could very well be a combination of dehydration and Constipation. not sure if you are having that problem but it has caused the exact same symptoms with me. That gas build up can really cause a lot of pain in your back and lower intestines.

The best thing to do is hydrate like crazy and call your doctor to get a solution for constipation if in fact you are having that problem. Gas x strips or chewable so might help as well.

Good luck and feel better soon!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
