I'm still pre-op but I have lost over 100 lbs twice in my life and I can tell you that you will get a ton more attention as an average sized person than you ever did as an overweight person. It's kinda sad really. Even women treated me better. People were nicer to me. And when I was single, dating was great as an average sized person. I'm married now but I am still totally looking forward to more attention from men lol.

This doesn't help you much obviously but a male friend of mine who has lost a lot of weight after his RNY said he is getting many dates now...but the women he take out have an issue with how little he eats at dinner. I never really stopped to think about it, but I guess females do judge how much they eat (more often than we should) based on what your date orders and eats. Particularly on a first date. I never realized how much of a challenge that might be for men who don't want to reveal within the first few minutes of dinner that they've had surgery. As for me, when I lost 50 lbs on my own 3 years ago, that's when I met my husband, so I suspect your dating life will improve. I gained my weight back in a few years (story of my life), so I'm just lucky I found a good guy who is supportive of me and upcoming surgery to hopefully fix this for the long haul! :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
