Band to Sleeve lose more slowly?

Recommended Posts

I had my band removed in 2011 gained all my weight back and plus. Was sleeved on 6/25/15. My weight loss seems slow to me and I also feel I can probably eat more then I should. I read dramatic weight loss of others and find my loss doesn't compare. I don't care I'm headed in the right direction. I think there are too many variables. I find I can eat everything just a lot less. SW 261, CW 239. HW 298 in 11/14 when I started 6 month supervised diet. Before that 309 was my very highest weight. So I'm just going to keep going wherever this takes me.

July 9, 2015 and I started at 230 before my lap and lost 60lbs then gained got coroded port then was sleeved. I'm 209.6 for a full month after sleeve. What are some suggestions family?? I went 5 days ago to have my hormones checked. Hypothyroidism so I take levithyroxine & Xanax. They both have something to do w neurotransmitters and hypothalamus.

And I'm thinking with the sluggishness of thyroids if I get my hormones in check I'll have that energy and my metabolism motor will start to work correctly...

As an update I have now lost 22 pounds in a little over 3 months. This was faster than my band but I had really hoped to have avg 10 lbs a month. I am also training for a half marathon so I've been working out like a champ. I lost most of it on the first 6 weeks and have only lost 2 lbs the last month. I haven't been great about watching what I eat. I make decent choices but need to be better. About to do a 2 week detox through lifetime fitness. Will update later with progress.

I'm still considering band to sleeve revision. I don't mind losing more slowly as long as I lose. I've been on a roller coaster ride with my band for the last several months. I had 6cc removed from the band which put me to just under 3cc in. I gained 7 pounds. I've been re-filled back 5.5 cc as of a week ago. I have not lost one pound. I think I need more Protein maybe? I know I'm not getting enough for the last few weeks. I don't know.

I enjoyed really great success over the summer when I lost nearly 20lbs - the most I had lost with the band since I got it in 2009. Then I started having issues and the rest you basically know. I think once you have a large amount of Fluid out of the band it's never the same? It seems that way to me. I do have restriction now, but...I'm just not sure what's going on with this thing.

I had decided I needed that "hard stop" the band gives me, but It's not giving me that now. So maybe I'd be better off with the sleeve. I just don't know anymore.

I lost 115 pounds during the first year that I had the band. Unfortunately, I slowly started gaining the weight back and complications eventually forced me to have the band emptied (and I gained all of my weight back).

On November 20th I will be having the band to sleeve revision surgery. I would LOVE to have the same weight loss during the first year as I did with the band, but I am thinking it will be slower this time around. I would still be happy with 1 pound a week though because at least that would have me headed in the right direction.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
