"Wow! Have you lost weight!?" I get this statement ALL the time (currently at my heaviest) does anyone else get this? Its like people freeze and can't think of anything else to say. I don't get it... How about just a hello? At this point it just makes me smile cause come October i'll be able to say "absolutely, I have!"

I had to laugh after I read this, because I get it ALL THE TIME. I work part time at a gym and I have one client here that said to me recently "wow, i can REALLY tell the difference in the way you look!!" and I'm thinking "Lady, i've gained like 4 pounds". I don't know if its just the way the clothes lay on me that day or what, but i've had multiple people comment or ask me about losing weight and i'm at my heaviest too!

Now that I am nearly 100lbs down I am getting this a lot. I'm taking it with a grain of salt since most people aren't saying it in a rude manner.

I just smile and give them a real big "Thank you!!"

The comments range from "Wow! You look great!!!" "You're looking great! How much have you lost?" Today's comment was "You look great! You've lost a lot of weight." Most everyone who knows me well, knows I've had the surgery. Some folks I'll see around the hospital or in the medical office building next door only once or twice a week or month - they're the ones who are most surprised because they probably don't know I've had VSG.

@@LittleMissCopular it happened today to me again. But I noticed that it was the same outfit I wore the last time I got it. So apparently bright teal gym pants and a solid black shirt do wonders for me. LOL

I'm currently at my heaviest weight ever and people are constantly saying things like this to me. I feel embarrassed for both of us when I get it. It almost feels like they're either saying: "my mental image of you is of a giant lazy slob -- but somehow you managed to look nicer than that in person -- must be your weight.." OR a subtle reverse psychology pressure telling me that I NEED to lose weight.

In both cases, it always makes me feel icky (and I'm male - which means that the cultural expectations are quite different for me than for a female). And I NEVER make comments on people's weight because of this.

I'd love a compliment like that. It would make my day, even if it wasn't true. I've found that it's the little things that do it, like a compliment from a stranger on my hair. If it makes me smile then it's good enough. No one has said anything to me today, but I looked in the mirror this morning and thought to myself, 'I look good'! It may be Spanx like undershirt, but my pants feel a smidge looser and my torso a little less lumpy :)

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
