any other sleevers with RA?

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am little over 7 weeks post op (May 19th). I have a hx of RA and my medications are on hold to give my immune system a holiday to allow healing post op.

Still feeling fatigue on a daily basis. Emotionally I struggle with how much is from the sleeve and still not being able to get all my Protein in daily d/t nausea/vomiting. I will see my Rhem. next month pretty much to beg to be restarted on at least my po meds.

Post op I required steroids for a severe rash from the surgery soap. It was so soon after the surgery and I felt so bad. They did help the rash.

Currently doing ok. Still having nausea with vomiting at least every other day. Vitamins contribute to the nausea and therefore I only get 1-2 gummies down at day. I figure something has to be better than nothing.

I am writing to see how others with RA are coping after their WLS emotionally>? physically>?

Any suggestions, recommendations?

thanks JoAnne

I have RA. I haven't had surgery yet. I'm scheduled for July 28th. I was wondering about my meds; nobody has said anything about stopping them, but I know when I had a different surgery a year ago, they made me stop taking them. Sometimes, I wonder how closely the doctors pay attention to these details!?

mostly likely your surgeon will follow the advice of your rheumatologist.

Please schedule an appt with them prior to surgery. Find out approx how long before surgery they want you to stop your meds and for approx how long after. Are you on orals only?? My surgery was May 19th and I won't know until next month if okay to restart them.

I wish you well with your surgery. I will be honest the fatigue is really an issue for me. But I honestly can't say how much is d/t my surgery vs. being off my RA meds.

Think about post op, warm Water pool exercises are the best for me. No to very low impact.

take care
