Lost a lot week 1, not so much week 2?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Tomorrow I'm going in for my 2 week post-op follow up appointment with my surgeon. The first week when I was weighed at his office, I lost 9 pounds. I weighed myself at home tonight, and it looks like I only lost 2 pounds this week.

Is this normal? I feel discouraged. I've been watching what I've been eating- at least I believe so.

I am having a similar issue.

I had my surgery on June 18th. My weight was 260 on the day of surgery.

The following Thursday June 25th I weighed at 246. Down 14 lbs in one week.

Since then I have only weighed on Thursdays.

July 2nd weight: 244

July 9th weight: 242

Is this normal? I feel like the scale has just stopped moving. I am following all of the instructions of my Nut. Getting in my Protein and as much Water as Steve my Sleeve will hold...

I was just about to post a similar question. I was sleeved on June 24th and lost 30 lb total... About 15 before the sleeve, and then 15 in the week and a half after. At 1.5 weeks, I started adding puréed foods to my meal options and all of a sudden I am not losing anymore. Not a pound in about 5 days. Bummer. Hope the body starts shedding the weight again.

Keep our chins up everyone! With as little calories we are taking in, it has to keep going down. Our body has to adjust and will have it's moments. Remember this is a marathon, not a sprint. ;)

I had surgery on the 18th, I'm at a stall right now too. I was at 280 day of surgery, first week I lost 14lbs second week I was at 262. And I've hung out at 262lbs since last Thursday. I'm just staying calm about things.

@@TexasGirl86, if you are not sure then make sure you track your foods. Hang in there everyone it fluctuates week to week and there will be stops and starts but look at what you have accomplished so far. It will come just be patient and follow your plans! Good luck!!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
