jacks89 51 Posted July 13, 2015 I agree with the previous post. See if maybe you can get a second opinion maybe? You never know! It doesn't hurt to try. Dang it! Why didn't I hear about this doctor sooner? I paid my deposit on a VSG in mexico on June 30th.
BobrobynR 17 Posted July 13, 2015 How exciting you're working with KBI. They completely changed my life oct 2014. I was sleeved and a cash patient. The thing that has helped me the most is the private support group page on FB. So amazing. It's positive support and just what you need for all the questions you'll have along the way. They become your family You're in the best hands.
PhatPhoenixVSG 14 Posted July 13, 2015 Hey Phat! If you can schedule a consultation with Dr. Kim before you pay more to your doctor in Mexico, maybe it's worth a shot? It'll at least give you another opinion/option. Why would I do that? I'm not on the business of giving away $500.
Timeforme15 15 Posted July 13, 2015 How much is the cash pay with Dr. Kim?
jacks89 51 Posted July 13, 2015 How much is the cash pay with Dr. Kim? I don't have my notebook in front of me but if I recall correctly I think it was $14,
gjruiz66 8 Posted July 13, 2015 If you have a co-morbidity,such as a hiatel hernia or sleep apnea, the cash pay price can be substantially reduced. I suggest calling them to discuss...their office can give you all the options!
jacks89 51 Posted July 13, 2015 I don't have either of those things though /: Thanks for looking out but It's alright, I'd rather pay that price as opposed to the 26k the doctor's around my area wanted me to pay. When the doctor's around here told me that price I had to say "come again?!" (and that wasn't including the overnight stay) lol If you have a co-morbidity,such as a hiatel hernia or sleep apnea, the cash pay price can be substantially reduced. Timeforme15 15 Posted July 13, 2015 I have pretty severe sleep apnea, but if I have a hernia I'm unaware. I'm looking to go to Mexico but if the price was comparable I would consider Dr. Kim.
BrownEyedTxGirl 139 Posted July 13, 2015 @@Timeforme15 The Dallas/Fort Worth area has some great bariatric surgeons! While they don't seem to be as cheap as Mexico it is a great option if you don't want to travel out of the country. I interviewed three surgeons in the Dallas/Fort Worth area and was impressed with them all. I think they all have their cash prices on their website, so you might want to Google the following surgeons to find out more. Dr. David Kim Dr. Clayton Frenzel Dr. Nick Nichoson Dr. Scott Stowers Their cash prices range between 10K - 15K for the gastric sleeve. Oh and as a side note I never thought in a million years that I had a hernia but my insurance would pay for the EGD so I figured what the heck might as well check and see. Sure enough I had one! I have read that roughly 50% of overweight people have them.
BrownEyedTxGirl 139 Posted July 13, 2015 That should have read Dr. Nick Nicholson. Dang...I thought there was an edit button

Timeforme15 15 Posted July 14, 2015 Lotsoflove77 How did you get it that cheap? Ins coverage?
Lotsoflove77 19 Posted July 14, 2015 Yes..There was a promotion for $2000. I have Aetna but did not want to do the 6 month tracking to qualify for them to cover at 80/20. They found heital hernia and billed insurance for majority of surgery costs that way. Then billed me with easy payment plan a bariatric fee to cover the sleeve.
