Chest pain--normal?

Recommended Posts

I got my first fill a couple of weeks ago and all has been well, except for the fact that I can eat normally. I ate Breakfast this morning and shortly after started feeling some chest pain or tightness, its hard to describe. I can still eat and food goes down just fine....Is this chest discomfort normal? I would appreciate any help I can get...thanks in advanced!!

I can't say it is normal but I have had some similar experiences myself. For me it depends on what I am eating and what time of day usually. It seems like I have that problem when I try to eat something like a Breakfast sandwich. When this happens I usually pull apart the sandwich and juts eat the Protein. I have heard other bandsters say the "tightness" of their bands fluctuates and that early morning is usually the worst. I have also had chest pains at dinner and again it seems to happen when I am eating something that is just too big and then I am reminded that I probably shouldn't be eating that something anyway and then I concentrate on eating the Protein in small bites. That seems to work for me. I will also flush everything down with Water when I start to have problems.

Thanks for responding. I guess my concern is that I've been feeling the tightness all day. Luckily, I'll be getting my second fill on Friday so I will be able to ask the surgeon ????

@@mmartin3 You should not be feeling chest pain or tightness in your chest. That is concerning....if you are having that feeling it's not something to wait on.

It could be band related and it could be something more serious. Please call your Dr. ASAP, and do follow up and let us know how you are doing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
