janeencooper@hotmail.com 5 Posted July 8, 2015 I had my sleeve done 07/07/2015. I am 9 lbs heavier today, 07/08/2015, than when I was weighed immediately b4 surgery...... is this normal?!??!
imsoglad56 402 Posted July 8, 2015 Very, very normal. It's from the IV Fluid they pump you full of while you're in surgery. I gained exactly 9 pounds, also. By 3 days after surgery it was gone and I was losing big time.
janeencooper@hotmail.com 5 Posted July 8, 2015 Ty.... I was getting scared!!!
imsoglad56 402 Posted July 8, 2015 No worries! It will go away. And when you get to around week 3, you'll stop losing for a while. That's very normal, too!
janeencooper@hotmail.com 5 Posted July 8, 2015 How soon did u start working out?
The Candidate 3,215 Posted July 8, 2015 (edited) Fluids - they blow you up with air and fill you up with IV's. Then they send you home to slowly deflate on your own. ???? Not fun (so I've heard, as mine is on the 29th) but perfectly normal, and you should lose it very quickly. Good luck! maggie409 765 Posted July 8, 2015 I gained 7 pounds but at 3 weeks post op I am down 25 pounds from my highest weight. I lost 12 during my preop diet and 13 since my surgery. The extra weight is a combination of swelling from surgery and Water weight from all of the fluids they pump in you. I only let myself weigh once a week. imsoglad56 402 Posted July 8, 2015 How soon did u start working out? Not until 6 weeks post-op. I walked before then, but nothing more strenuous was approved by the surgeon until 6 weeks.
merry1126 42 Posted July 8, 2015 I gained 10 pounds after surgery and lost it a few days later, try not to weigh yourself right now. Congratulations and best of luck.
belindadcns 55 Posted July 11, 2015 Congrats. I agree it is from Fluid and swelling.
