Gurgling & fills & worries! Oh my!

Recommended Posts

Banded on 9/5/14, down 84 pounds. I went to see my doctor on Monday (who is conservative with fills) he gave me a 1/2 cc, said I'm making excellent progress & go back to see him in TWO months & continue doing everything I've been doing.

I now have 4ccs in a 12cc band. Since receiving the last fill, my throat makes crazy gurgling noises. Nothing hurts, it's just the most embarrassing sounds. I assure you I'm not over eating or consuming large bites. This happens even when I drink Water. Is this normal? Any best practices you can share so I may begin using immediately? :)

I've had excellent restriction since my fill at the end May & it's just as well now. I guess for me, I'm concerned I'm going to stall & not lose anything else! Or what if I start over eating again? Or... Or... Or!!! OMG, I'm having anxiety about not seeing him for two months. Certainly I can call and/or go see him whenever I need to. But these thoughts are driving be nuts! For whatever reason, the more weight I lose, the more anxiety ridden I become. Any words of wisdom?

Thank you so much!

The gurgling sound is quite normal for me too.....6 years post op. :)

As far as words of advice....sounds like your surgeon was spot on to me.

84 pounds in 10 months = Just continue everything you've been doing!

Best wishes for your continued success :)

@@ChelleChi1969 I have to ask if you were at a good restriction why did you get another fill?

The gurgling can be normal right after a fill, but it can also be an indicator of being tight. I would give it a week or so to settle in and if you are still gurgling every time you drink something you may want to go back and have that 1/2 cc taken out. If ti all levels out for you and the gurgling stops and your feeling good with eating solids again and hunger is dimmed eating only every 3-4 hours or more then don't worry about not seeing the Dr. for a couple of months.

You want to be accountable to yourself to be sure your doing what's right for you, and if you need them they are just a phone call away. He's really trying to tell you that your doing a great job and he doesn't need to medically see you every month anymore, so that's a good thing :)

Keep in touch here and let us know how your doing. This is a great place to share and question and get support, it helps me a lot especially when I need focus.

I'm a gurgler at times; seems to go with the territory for me. Congratulations on your success. A good relationship with your doctor is such a great thing. You are doing beautifully!

@@lisacaron To be honest, I didn't question why a small fill... I was just glad to receive one! :) I'm going to assume it's for reinforcement and/or a result of something I noted when speaking with the nutritionist. Thank you for your insight, words of advice & encouragement!

@@Bandista @@B-52 @@catfish87 Thanks so much! I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who gurgles. I think I'm so happy to have seemingly found my "sweet spot" that I'm terrified something will go wrong.

Onward & upward!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
