ladivaluz806 87 Posted July 8, 2015 Has anyone experienced frequent bladder or kidney infections since surgery? I am starting to feel like this is a common illness with me. I have had 2 since surgery in April and I feel as if i am starting to get another one today. They aren't mild and come out of no where. I am at my desk at work dreading any movement because I am in bladder and just pain below the waist. I have never experienced these as frequent as I am now. I am Miserable. sleeve4086222015 27 Posted July 9, 2015 Try adding a swig or two of cranberry juice to your daily diet.
BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted July 9, 2015 I would call the doctor and ask about it. In the interim you can drink cranberry juice. Just not Ocean Spray. That's more sugar & fillers than actual cranberry juice. Drink real, unsweetened cranberry juice. There are also cranberry pills you can take, but it will make your pee neon orange. sleeve4086222015 27 Posted July 9, 2015 I'm so sorry! I meant Diet Ocean Spray. It tastes the same with I sugar. Whew!
Daisee68 2,493 Posted July 9, 2015 see a urologist. It us possible that the antibiotics you are being given aren't addressing it so it has never really completely gone away. I had a recurrent UTI for nearly one year pre WLS). It was a urologist who really took the time to take care if it. Still took a couple more rounds of antibiotics

BLERDgirl 6,417 Posted July 9, 2015 I'm so sorry! I meant Diet Ocean Spray. It tastes the same with I sugar. Whew!Ocean Spray whether regular or diet has at best 10% cranberry juice. In fact it's not even labeled cranberry juice. It's labeled "drink" or "concentrate". For urinary issues you want 100% pure juice. My juice if choice is by Knudsen. Warning, it taste nothing like ocean spray.

You can find them in most grocery stores. They are typically gel tablets and you can find them with the natural supplements. Follow the directions on the bottle regarding how much to take daily - taking more during an episode and maybe just taking two daily with your Vitamins on a regular basis. Take them with Water and just try to drink as much Water as you can. Stay away from any other drinks during an episode. If you keep your cranberry pills on hand, and start to feel it, you can begin taking them immediately. I've always relied on them and its kept me from having to go to the doctor for an antibiotic. Daisee68 2,493 Posted July 9, 2015 Sorry to be a pain but read instructions on cranberry carefully. The very strong ones my urologist told me to get said NOT to take them during an active UTI.
