My surgery was July 2, I have had no pain, minimal discomfort and feel like I have not even had surgery. I returned to work on Monday, July 6th. I am still on full liquids and last night I consumed a full can of Campbell's Tomato Soup. (Approximately 20 oz.) I did not have any discomfort or feel like I was over full. I am concerned because I read on here numerous people who at day five cannot even keep down broth. I feel like a whole can of Soup is extreme when my new stomach is supposed to be only 5 oz or so.

The struggle that people have with liquids is because their stomachs are bruised and swollen after surgery, not because the underlying size of the sleeve itself restricts liquids. Liquids will go right through your pyloric valve. If you aren't struggling with liquids right now, it's because your surgeon did an awesome, painstaking, careful job and you are a great natural healer, not because there is anything wrong. That said, just because you can, doesn't mean you should. There are a lot of calories (relatively speaking) and sodium, and not much Protein, in an entire can of Tomato Soup.< /p>

Soup didnt sit well with me at all, and i was told by my nutristionist not to even do it again, its a waste of calories because it slips right through a small stomach, they remind me my stomach is a funnel ..., but i know its different for everyone

i am over 6 weeks out and just now hitting 4 oz of food and can barely make that, if you are overly concerned ask your surgical team and see what they think.

congrats on healing!

I had my sleeve down on July 3. I am trying to get as much liquids I can in because the heartburn really really sucks. I did not have heartburn before surgery. Here are my symptoms...heartburn while taking Omeprazol 40 mg 24 hours, Antacid Advanced and Tums in between. The damn airline lost my luggage so my Omeprazol has not been consistent until today. I feel I am sleeping and weak a lot. I am trying to be active, but when I do I have some shortness of breath. I have asthma as well and feel like my chest is heavy. My stomach as far as pain is fine...tolerated. I had to stop the antibiotics per the doctor because it was giving me the explosive shits. I believe I am getting 40+ ounces of liquid in, but recommendation is 64 ounces. Sometimes my back of my shoulders hurt like cramped up. I know the heartburn is getting a tiny bit better, but I have no idea when I can go back to work. I was supposed to go today, but my body is not bouncing back like it has in the past. My boyfriend works for the fire station as a firefighter/EMS he said if I need to come and get some IV liquids he would be more then willing to help and stick me with a needle. Thanks for any suggestions.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
