Low energy from pre op diet

Recommended Posts

So I have been on my pre op diet for about 2 weeks. I "cheated" over the weekend and ate a meal I knew I would not be able to eat again because it would probably case dumping after surgery and I had a couple of drinks as well. Other than that, I have done quite well with the pre op diet. I keep telling myself I have low energy from eating so few calories but then I think, I am still eating and getting calories so it must just be in my head. Did anyone feel this way during pre op diet? Did anyone keep up a workout routine throughout?

Sorry, I guess this is more of a vent.

I am on day 3 of my liquid diet and I could literally sleep all day! I have not started my exercise routine either. But I have lost 5 lbs already so I am not complaining!! :) I do however have a huge headache most of the day but I haven't figured out if it's diet related or sinus issues. It's not caffeine withdrawal, I gave that up about a month ago.

Headaches can sometimes be caused by dehydration

I got some Powerade zero today and going to see if that helps. I know I can't possibly be dehydrated. I have never ingested this much liquid in my life! lol

Lucky for us, the sleeve doesn't cause dumping so you may be able to eat whatever it was again some day. Whether you should or not is another question. ????

A lot of times when you give up carbs, your body goes through the carb flu (Google it, it's a real thing) and headache and fatigue are both common. So if your new diet is low carb, that may be it.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
