Thanks for getting this started Musicalmomma.

Since just banded, I'm still sorting out the shakiness. I pledge to walk at least 4x per week for 30 minutes untill I get to the solid food stage in 4 weeks.

My goal is to walk 45 minutes per day, at least 5 days a week, burning at least 350 to 400 calories on each walk (I wear a heart rate monitor).

My goal is to walk four times weekly at least for 30 minutes each time. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and not be as hot as it has been. If not maybe i will use the threadmill. I like outside better.

I plan on getting back to playing in my Ultimate leagues on Mondays and Tuesdays plus Australian Football practice on Saturdays. During the week, I will do as much as possible on the elliptical and then do about 20 minutes of walking on the treadmill.

I would like to get to the gym at least 20 days in July. I'm typically an elliptical kind of girl, but haven't been to the gym since pre-op, so we'll see how I do!

I need in on this challenge, but I was just banded on 6/25, so I will start slow. My goal will be to walk at least 15 minutes 4 times per week.

I think I'll go for about 45 minutes each gym visit (elliptical or tredmill) x 20 visits = 900. (Is that right? I'm bad at math!)

LOVE the chart! Thanks for doing that!

Musicalmomma, thanks for putting that chart together!

I was feeling so lazy earlier today...I just wanted to lay on the sofa and watch bad TV...but I got off my ass and went for a 30 minute walk outside (in the 90 degree heat of Miami Beach, AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!). It wasn't a LONG walk, but I just took a shower and now I feel great. It's the best feeling when you don't want to work out, but you do anyway.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
