Hello. I am scheduled for surgery July 28th, I am also having a hernia repair at the same time. I was wondering if anyone used an abdominal binder after surgery? If so, did it help? Is this something I should purchase prior to surgery??

You might want to check with the hospital/surgeon first. I'm a rabid pre planner so I purchased one. Only to find out that they will be providing one for me free of charge.

Thanks! @ The Candidate I will have to ask at my pre op appointment. I didn't even think about the hospital providing one.

Ugh... I am not looking forward to the pain :( I know it's surgery and I'm expecting some pain, just the added trauma of the hernia repair is going to make it worse. Yuck

For anyone that was wondering if buying an Abdominal binder is worth it... YES! I have been able to move more with less or no pain at all. The support makes all the differences.

Don't stress too bad over the pain. As said previously though take your meds on schedule the first few days so you don't go through unnecessary pain. I'm 4 days post -op and have only had 2 major pain episodes and I had a 6 hour surgery due to having to have a previous Nissen surgery taken down and there was lots of of scaring and adhesions. They also have me a binder at the hospital and it helps. Especially if you have a JP drain.

@@shelleylester I am only 5 days post op and I couldn't agree more. The last two nights I have been woken up by an intense ripping burning feeling in my lower abdomen. Pressure is the only thing that helps it. Thank goodness for the ab binder. I am supposed to go back to work tomorrow, I know there is no way I could even consider if it wasn't for the binder.

I agree with @@Gumpgal wear the binder, especially when you're up and about. It helps support you.

So strange in one more way doctors are different. She never mentioned a binder nor did I think to look in to getting one. Didn't have one after my hysterectomy either. With both surgeries I didn't want anything pressing on my stomach and wore the loosest toga pants I could find. Sounds uncomfortable but glad it gives relief to some!

For those who purchased their own, what kind did you get? Like a Spanx? Or are there specific surgical ones? I have a feeling there is no way is be able to get spanx on after surgery.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
