success is not just a number

Recommended Posts

I know I sound like a broken record but friends..here is what success looks like. Just so happens I'm up a few pounds from my lowest weight but so what. Who cares? I was almost wheelchair bound before surgery and now I'm riding a bike. I have my life back and that's what success is all about. So please stop worrying about the number on the scale. It's just one indicator...and not nearly as important as getting back quality of life.

Have a great day everyone.

I want to throw a parade my friend!!! You are one amazing lady and it shows on your face!!! I agree with you that it's not all about the numbers on the scale. I'd love to see my numbers dip, but you know what I feel better than I have in years and I am back to being active and doing all the things that I used to do and enjoy. Hubby too and I can't be more grateful for that!! It wasn't so long ago that the Dr. was calling 911 from his office to have me rushed to the ER for heart failure, so I am extremely grateful for good health!!!

Buying Ken a bike for his birthday, now that is something I thought I would never see him be able to do!!!

I may require you to provide some additional proof that those are indeed the same two people. ????

Seriously, you are completely unrecognizable! You should be the poster child for weight loss surgery success. Congrats! And keep on sharing because as a pre op I crave motivation like that!

...hence the reason I'm in therapy. No one can lose that much weight, become unrecognizable, and not need professional help. Thank goodness I'm seeing someone. She is helping me to navigate these scary but wonderful experiences I'm going through. I look at the pictures of me at that heavier weight and I don't know who that person is anymore. I'm still learning to know who the girl on the bike is, but she's still a mystery to me alot of the time.

Your eyes and smile are just the same -- gorgeous you, a Lovely Liz in whatever body. But thank goodness for the healthy new you so you'll be around for a long time enjoying your life.

Thought of you the other day as I know your trip to England is coming up -- picked up a copy of Snobs at a used book store to read on the beach. It is hysterical, by Julian Fellowes' who wrote Gosford Park and Downton. It's old now (92?) but might be perfect for the plane trip. You know, the flight where you're comfortable in your seat because you're right-sized now! Bon Voyage!

Thank you sweetheart! If it's a good book, you'll have to mail it to me so I can read it when I get back. Running errands tomorrow to pick up a raincoat that fits better than the one I currently have, and also need a converter for my cell phone charger. It's getting closer. I'm scared because I'm heading over there by myself and taking the underground to get to the hotel but once I'm there and meet up with my sister, I'll be good to go. Still can't believe it sometimes...how lucky I am to have found this forum and all my BP friends.

Have a fabulous time Liz ! It can be a bit daunting to plan and travel alone to a foreign country .... ✈️

I'm hoping you will feel accomplished and enjoy looking at such a different culture, w/ your sis.

Just the signs, billboards, shops... All so fascinating.

So proud of you changing your life and now expanding your horizons.

Hope you are also as confident! You got this covered... You have shown us how strong you have become in many ways.

Best of luck and Please post pics????

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
