Anything and everything. Try a dance class, ride a outdoor bike, go for a swim! If you can't swim, learn to swim. Check groupon. They always have 30 day specials. Try one out for size. Even though I primarily do Water aerobics, I am always looking for and trying new activities.

I was under the impression that because of your physical problems you were fairly limited , but I guess not ! However, you say you can't do certain things , but then want to exercise hard. Sorry, I'm not sure where to go with this because of others suggestions that you don't want to do or can't do. Give us a little more info and maybe we can brainstorm some ideas for you . Please ?

I guess I'm frustrated because while I am fairly limited, I have TONS of energy, and need to be able to burn calories in order to maintain.

OK, here is my list of disabilities, which are all painful and progressive.

Severe ankylosing spondylosis in my entire spine. Including stenosis (narrowing of the spinal column) pinched nerves and bone spurs

Reynaud's disease. Basically temps below 80, if I am not moving, I must wrap in a blanket (sometimes electric) and wear a jacket, due to arteries in my extremities closing up.

mild carpal tunnel

Bilateral PTTD, which I wear braces for, so it doesn't limit me much

Right knee torn PCL/MCL, so it is unstable. I wear a brace when walking on uneven surfaces (ie grass), walking uphill/downhill, using the treadmill and the recumbant stationary bike.

Left knee has chondromalacia patella due to a hyper mobile kneecap. Which means that the cartilage on the back of my kneecap is wearing away. If I bend my knee past a certain point it causes further damage, so I have a brace that holds my knee in the center so that I can walk up/down hills & stairs, ride the bike and do incline on the treadmill.

Severe ulcerative colitis, which causes embarrassing gas and sudden attacks of explosive, bloody BMs

The area that I live in is very rural, so there are not opportunities, or very limited opportunities for group classes or activities.

I appreciate you asking me to clarify my position, and possibly help brainstorm.

I can only ride a recumbant bike and outdoor ones are VERY expensive. Opportunities for classes and such are not available or very limited as this is a rural area.

I LOVE Zumba, but, physically, can only handle it occasionally without days of spine/shoulder/neck pain to follow.

I'm not trying to be a pain and shoot down all ideas, I'm very frustrated and alone in an area where the only way to meet people is to go to bars. That's not my thing. And the quality of people you meet there, well.......

Youtube, OnDemand or buy some DVDs. If you can get to a pool, get some books on tape and download to a Water proofed MP3 player. I have a waterproofed iPod shuffle. It was worth every penny. If the knees are an issue look for Youtubes or videos that that focus on chair exercises.

I got my old cheapie Huffy bike serviced so I could ride. If I become a full time biker then I'll splurge for the expensive ones.

I have braces that help with the knees. My biggest problem is my spine. I cannot ride a bike without a back support on it. Outdoor recumbant bikes are prohibitively expensive. Our internet, since it is a rural area, is data limited and very expensive so videos or music is out of the question.

Used to LOVE my Huffy bike, have fun!!

Have you tried the intensity balls just use that when you are watching tv or on your computer. Making asking a friend to join you to workout would make it much interesting

I agree 100%!

I'm really hoping someone, here can help me come up with an idea. I'm just so frustrated with the limitations of mine and my area vs. my HIGH energy and need to burn calories to maintain my weight loss! Can't wait till my name comes up on the waiting list for the disabled apartment, as there will be more opportunities for socializing and places to walk to. Then it won't be walking for the sake of walking, it'll be a destination. Unfortunately, it'll be a few years :(

There's been several ideas.. can you look on craigslist for someone selling a recumbent bike?

I have high energy too, so I clean, do laundry, etc.. but I have a family of 4.

do you have a gym nearby? My gym has a hand bike. I see people using that who have disabilities.. you could get some weights and start doing some weight exercises..

Swimming is also a great exercise.. do you have a pool close by?

A gym is not an option and a hand bike would aggravate the spondylosis in my neck. I've been looking for years for a recumbant outside bike, but all are over $500.00. I do weights, but only able to do certain moves. My legs, despite the problems are my strongest part.

Buy DVDs.

Are there any that you know of that are high energy, dance or Zumba? I've bought some that said they were, but they felt like slow motion to me. As long as I modify the arm moves, that would be a great option!

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
